Echocardiography

Echocardiography by voice: dictate the echo and get a finished report

Echo is the report with the most numbers: fifty measurements, calculations, three or four valves with regurgitation grades. Instead of typing all of it after the scan, you say the values as you measure and get a filled report with calculations half a minute later.

Who it is for

Sonographers, cardiologists with an echo machine in the office, physicians doing bedside or mobile studies where there is no time for paperwork between patients. The package covers adults: 56 parameters in seven sections, valves, aorta, right heart, left atrium, LV morphometry, diastolic function, other.

Sign up in a minute

  1. Open the app or the web cabinet and enter your email. No password: you get a code and a sign-in link.
  2. Signing in is the registration. Free minutes are credited at the start, no card needed.
  3. Fill the directories once: physician, workplace, scanner. They go into every report.

How to pick this exam type

Open the Exam type list in the study parameters and pick Echocardiography. It is first in the list and is remembered for the next study. Fill physician, workplace and scanner from the directories, they go to the document header. Enter the patient's age, weight and height in the subject fields: body surface area for the indices is calculated from weight and height.

How to dictate

Dictate the way you would to a nurse. Any order works, but sections make it easier: M-mode and morphometry, LA and aorta, valves, Doppler, right heart, pericardium. Abbreviations are understood: LVIDd, LVIDs, IVS, LVPW, EF, TAPSE, E and A. Units are optional, the fields are already in mm, cm/s and m/s. Say decimals naturally: zero point nine five, two point six.

What to watch

What is calculated automatically

Calculated fields fill themselves when the inputs are dictated. Every formula shows its inputs.

What the report will contain

A one or two page report: header with physician and date, section tables with Parameter, Value, Unit and Reference columns, calculated fields marked with a formula footnote, the impression in your words. The text layout of the same document renders the data as paragraphs, the way many clinics prefer.

Reference ranges are printed for information only: the service does not compare values with norms and does not write a diagnosis. The impression stays yours.

After processing

The result arrives in 20-40 seconds. Any value, label or unit can be corrected in the editor and formulas recalculate. The document opens in Word and PDF, prints from the browser with the patient name typed on the spot, and can be shared with a colleague by link.

Frequently asked questions

Does the service calculate Simpson EF?

No, Simpson volumes are measured by the scanner. The service calculates Teichholz EF and volumes from LVIDd and LVIDs and records a dictated Simpson EF as is.

What happens with a parameter I did not mention?

The row is not printed. Empty fields stay out of the document and can be filled later in the editor.

Can I change reference ranges for my lab?

Reference ranges can be edited per record in the editor. A custom reference set for a clinic is set up on request to support.

What about pediatric echo?

The package is for adults. For children dictate the same parameters and enter age-specific ranges manually, or write to us: a pediatric set is planned.
