Thyroid ultrasound by voice: lobe volumes by Brunn and a report in Word and PDF
The thyroid is triplets of sizes and one formula everyone runs on a calculator. Here each lobe volume and the total volume are calculated as soon as you say length, width and thickness. You only describe the structure and the nodules.
Who it is for
Sonographers and endocrinologists who follow screening groups and monitor nodules. The package: right and left lobes, isthmus, total volume, gland structure, regional lymph nodes, 16 parameters and 3 formulas.
Sign up in a minute
- Open the app or the web cabinet and enter your email. No password: you get a code and a sign-in link.
- Signing in is the registration. Free minutes are credited at the start, no card needed.
- Fill the directories once: physician, workplace, scanner. They go into every report.
How to pick this exam type
Pick Thyroid ultrasound. State the patient's sex in the note or the impression for volume interpretation: the reference range in the report is printed for both sexes.
How to dictate
Each lobe as three numbers in a row: length, width, thickness. Then isthmus, echogenicity, texture, nodules, color Doppler, lymph nodes. Describe a nodule in one phrase with location, sizes and TI-RADS category.
What to watch
- If you say only two sizes, the service takes them as width and thickness and leaves length empty.
- Volumes use the Brunn formula with the 0.479 factor and are marked as calculated. Say a scanner volume in words, right lobe volume 6.2, and it replaces the calculation.
- List several nodules one after another, each with side and size: all go to the nodules field.
- Thyroiditis and goiter belong in the impression: the service does not diagnose.
What is calculated automatically
Calculated fields fill themselves when the inputs are dictated. Every formula shows its inputs.
- Right lobe volume = 6.2 ml
lobe volume = length x width x thickness x 0.479 (Brunn), ml - Left lobe volume = 5.4 ml
lobe volume = length x width x thickness x 0.479 (Brunn), ml - Total thyroid volume = 11.6 ml
total volume = right lobe volume + left lobe volume
What the report will contain
Lobe tables with four rows each, isthmus, total volume with its reference range, structure, nodules, lymph nodes and impression. Calculated rows are marked with a formula footnote.
Reference ranges are printed for information only: the service does not compare values with norms and does not write a diagnosis. The impression stays yours.
After processing
The result arrives in 20-40 seconds. Any value, label or unit can be corrected in the editor and formulas recalculate. The document opens in Word and PDF, prints from the browser with the patient name typed on the spot, and can be shared with a colleague by link.
Frequently asked questions
Which volume formula is used?
Length times width times thickness times 0.479, result in millilitres. That is the Brunn formula used in most guidelines.
Can I switch the factor to 0.524?
Not yet. Dictate the scanner volume in words and it replaces the calculation.
How do I report a thyroidectomy?
Say right lobe removed: the size field receives the text and no volume is calculated.
Does the service understand TI-RADS and EU-TIRADS?
Yes, the category is recorded in the nodule description as dictated.
